Services 

Gulf Coast Music Therapy provides services to public and private schools, nursing homes, daycares, hospice and hosptial patients, organizations, and individual clients.  GCMT offers Music Therapy sessions in group and/or one-on-one format and structures the goals of each session to meet the needs for each client.

Music Therapy in Special Education

Research in Music Therapy has proven its effectiveness for children with:

  • Autism
  • Down Syndrome
  • Emotional Disabilities
  • Cognitive Disabilities(EMH, TMH, PMH)
  • Physical Disabilities
  • Hearing Impairments
  • Visual Impairments
  • Language/ Communication Deficits

Goals addressed in a special education setting include, but are not limited to:

  • social skills
  • cognitive/ academic skills
  • communication/ language acquisition
  • gross and fine motor
  • emotional skills
  • self help skills
  • leisure skills

Music Therapy in Medical Settings (Hospitals/ Hospice)

Music Therapy is used in a wide variety of medical settings including hospitals, hospice, nursing homes, and rehabilitative facilities.  Music Therapy is an effective treatment modality for all patients in these settings. 

Goals addressed in medical settings include, but are not limited to:

  • pain managment
  • lower blood pressure
  • improve respiration
  • reduce heart rate
  • muscle tension relaxation
  • anxiety and stress reduction
  • increased mood and emotional state
  • increased participation in treatment
  • quality of life
